Child killed during crash in Hollister Monday afternoon

A juvenile bicyclist has died after a crash involving a bus in Hollister. According to the Hollister Police Department, it happened around 4:05 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Verdun Avenue.

The juvenile was taken to Hazel Hawkins Hospital where the bicyclist was later pronounced dead.

Police are not releasing the victim’s identity until family members are notified.

Hollister’s Police Chief, David Westrick, released a statement on the incident that said quote “The Hollister Police Department would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family and friends for this tragedy.”

The investigation is in its preliminary stages.
