Scotts Valley man accused of having sex with a boy he met on Grindr

A Scotts Valley man has been arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy he met on a website for gay men called Grindr, according to police.

Investigators said the boy was reluctant to identify the suspect when he was initially interviewed last August.

About a year later, the Scotts Valley Police Department said it received a report that the same boy was in a sexual relationship with an older man. The boy eventually worked with police to identify the suspect. Kipp Alan Herman, 43, of Scotts Valley is accused of having sex with a minor.

Herman was arrested and faces multiple sex assault charges.
