Road rage shooting on Highway 1 involving two young children, deputies say

A Sacramento-area man was arrested Tuesday morning at Manresa Beach after allegedly shooting at a car during a road rage incident, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said Steven Corey, 36, leaned out of his car window on Highway 1 near San Andreas Rd. and fired a gun at another car with a man and a young child inside.

Deputies said they worked with CA State Park Rangers to search the area and later found Corey in the parking lot at Manresa Beach.

The Sheriff’s Office said Corey had his girlfriend and his 4-year-old daughter in the car during the shooting.

Deputies said the child was placed in protective custody and Corey was arrested.
