New King City Police Chief explains new approach to building community trust
The King City Police Department said it’s working to improve its image. New Police Chief Ronald Forgue said he’s meeting people in the community and working closely with officers, to encourage positive relationships.
The department has been trying to re-group since an embezzlement case and a separate corruption scandal broke in 2014. Forgue said he’s giving his officers more tools to do their job better.
“My sergeants, which I consider watch commanders, have a department phone now. So they’re going to, people can text them to tell them information. So it’s real time. We’re building our website up too so they can do that as well,” Forgue said.
Forgue said his officers are working to investigate 22 unsolved homicides and he’s working directly with Greenfield Police on gang activity.
