Watsonville gang member arrested for two incidents in less than a week, police say
A Watsonville gang member and two female juveniles were arrested Tuesday afternoon after an officer spotted a stolen mini-van on Capitola Rd., police said.
During a search of the van, police said they found a stolen revolver. Victor Chavez, 19, was the driver, according to police.
Officers said they recognized Chavez because of an incident on July 12, where officers were dispatched to the area of Depot Hill for a report of several minors drinking alcohol. When officers approached the group, they said Chavez tried to walk away and resisted arrest.
Capitola Police said Chavez’s bail was increased because of the second incident with officers in less than a week. The department said it has contacted the Department of Homeland Security to investigate possible federal charges.
