Butane honey oil and marijuana plant bust at San Miguel home

Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a San Miguel man Saturday for a large amount of marijuana plants and tools used to manufacture butane honey oil.

It started when a California Fish and Wildlife officer was investigating the illegal dumping of trash on Cross County Road in Southern Monterey County. The officer found a PG&E bill with an address on Hidden Creek Road in San Miguel, California.

When the officer arrived at the home, he could see roughly 100 marijuana plants in the backyard, deputies said. The resident, Douglas King, 34, admitted to having the plants at his house.

Authorities conducted a warrants check on King and discovered he was a registered sex offender from San Luis Obispo County. After a search warrant was obtained, deputies found 1,502 various marijuana plants anywhere from four inches to four feet high, deputies said.

King also allegedly had 6.71 pounds of processed pot, an expired medicinal marijuana card and equipment for producing butane honey oil, deputies said. Upon further investigation, King had stolen electrical utilities from PG&E, deputies said.
