Wish Bone dressing; La Mexicana recalls announced

News Channel Five has learned of two food recalls that involve an ingredient in food products that could cause a severe allergic reaction in some consumers.

Pinnacle Foods Group is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of its Wish-Bone Ranch Salad Dressing variety, due to the product containing Wish-Bone Blue Cheese Dressing, inadvertently packed in Ranch Salad Dressing bottles.

A consumer notice the problem and notified Pinnacle Foods.

This product contains eggs, a known allergen not declared on the packaging. People with a sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. If you are not allergic to eggs, this product is safe to eat.

The recalled product is as follows: Wish-Bone Ranch Salad Dressing – 24 oz.; UPC Code 0-41321-00661-6; Best Used Date: FEB 17 16. A picture of the label is attached to this alert.

The salad dressing was produced on April 23, 2015 by a contract manufacturer. In total, 8,678 cases of Wish-Bone Ranch Salad Dressing in 24 oz. bottles, distributed nationwide, are involved in the recall. The ‘Best Used By’ date can be found on the neck label of the bottle. No other Wish-Bone products are included in this recall.

No illnesses have been reported to date. The Food and Drug Administration has been made aware of this recall.

Another recall from La Mexicana Food Products of Vernon, CA is for their Spinach Dip because product labels failed to declare the food allergen, Milk, as a sub-ingredient of the listed ingredient, Sour Cream. We’ve attached a picture of the product to this alert.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to Milk run the risk of a life threatening allergic reaction, anaphylaxis, that requires immediate medical attention should they consume products containing allergens.

La Mexicana Spinach Dip is packaged in a 14-ounce clear plastic cup. The product is white in color, with pieces of spinach visible throughout. The lid has a green and yellow circular border with “La Mexicana” in white lettering. The center of the lid has “Spinach Dip” in green lettering, with a picture of fresh spinach.

La Mexicana immediately segregated its entire inventory of Spinach Dip, and is notifying consumers and customers not to consume them.

La Mexicana wants to ensure its products are safe.

Consequently, in addition to its ongoing cooperation with the California Department of Public Health, La Mexicana is voluntarily recalling all La Mexicana Spinach Dip from its customers.

Consumers in possession of these products should not eat them, rather product should be returned to the place of purchase.

La Mexicana will be sending recall notices to all of its direct customers.
