Suspect in deadly stabbing in Salinas now in custody
A man accused of a deadly stabbing at a Taqueria in Salinas Friday night turned himself in to police.
Just before 10 p.m., officers responded to reports of a fight on the 600 block of Williams Road. Upon arrival they found Antonio Gonzalez Alejo, 43, with multiple stab wounds to his chest and abdomen.
Alejo was taken to Natividad Medical center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Several witnesses identified the suspect as Geronimo Hernandez. Police said both Hernandez and Alejo got into a physical argument outside a Taqueria. Witnesses reported Hernandez pulled a knife and stabbed Alejo several times.
Hernandez fled to a nearby house. Police said friends convinced Hernandez to turn himself in.
He was arrested without incident.
