Carmel man pleads guilty to felony assault
A Carmel man pleaded guilty to assaulting and seriously hurting his landlord in January, according to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors said on January 24, Marc Cross, 64, and his landlord got into a heated argument. Cross was found guilty of hitting the woman in the head three times in an area where she had a previous unrelated head injury.
The woman ended up with numerous cuts on her head. She was taken to Natividad Medical Center where she was treated for her injuries.
Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the assault and immediately arrested Cross. He stated that he “snapped” and was “sorry” about hurting the victim. Deputies searched the home and adjoining properties and did not recover any possible weapons.
Cross will be sentenced for the felony assault on September 23 by Honorable Pamela Butler. He faces a maximum punishment of up to 7 years in state prison.
