Santa Cruz police searching for possible serial armed robber

has the eat fresh robber struck again? santa cruz police believe the same man who could’ve robbed 5 other food businesses along the central coast may also be responsible for mondays subway robbery in santa cruz. news channel 5’s brandon castillo reports. :29-:37 1:17-1:221:23-1:28 1:31-1:37 *trt:1:43 outcue:standard:*nats: “he said something like give me the money.”monday morning monica martinez was just beginning her shift at subway in santa cruz when she found herself looking down the barrel of a gun. with an armed robber in the store she was worried about her safety and her co-workers. monica martinez-subway employee victim “somebody else was in the back, so i was thinking of her.” at gunpoint she handed over the money then she and her coworkers were told to go in the back while the suspect took off. that’s when they called the police. turns out this suspect may have struck before. lt. bernie escalante-“we’re collaborating with salinas pd, and monterey pd as well as the santa cruz sheriffs office and we’re comparing notes and comparing video surveillance. broll over the rest based off of some of the evidence in all of those cases we have a belief that it could be the same suspect.” april 6th — 6:10 pm — see’s candy in salinas robbed at gun point april 8 — 2:30pm — another orbbery this time at “room for desserts” i monterey then on april 12th the first of a string of subway robberies the first at 10 am in salinas another later that day in soquel nats: “lady i ain’t playing come out here.” that’s when the suspect was dubbed the “eat fresh robber” by santa cruz sheriff deputies. so far this month — two more. may 6th — 2:33pm at kara’s cupcakes in monterey and monday’s hold up here at the santa cruz subway. standup: “no one was physically hurt during these robberies even so its been the talk of the town in the santa cruz area.”monica martinez “right now i’m still a little bit scared because i’m afraid if he comes again.”it’s back to business as usual here barbara redmond-santa cruz resident”i’m sure there is a lot of businesses like these eateries that people are going to be very nervous, but it won’t scare me away.”and as for the robber… monica martinez-“i hope the police catch him.”in santa cruz brandon castillo news channel 5. law enforcement agencies are asking for the public’s help up and down the coast. if
