Santa Cruz prosecutors send known burglar to prison

Prosecutors said a man was sentenced to five years in state prison Thursday for stolen property and identity theft in Capitola.

Investigators said Arjuna Ramakar was arrested last October after a shoplifting incident at the Capitola Mall. Officers discovered Ramakar was at the mall with a car he had stolen a few days before from an apartment complex on 30 th Avenue.

At the time, prosecutors said Ramakar was on parole for a residential burglary in 2001 and a car theft in 2011.
