Salinas High School students participate in kindness campaign

Students at Salinas High School are participating in a nationwide campaign to spread kindness.

The students are taking part in the “15 days of Kindness” Challenge. It is a unique anti-bullying campaign that aims to spread joy.

Motivational speaker and Think Kindness Founder, Brian Williams, has been taking the campaign across the nation to more than 100 schools.

On Thursday Williams challenged Salinas High School students and the Central Coast to put on the largest shoe drive ever held in the region.

Salinas High senior Sarah Miller told News Channel 5 the shoes they collected will be going to be people in Ghana and Kenya.

“It’s really cool to be able to spread this around my school and really make a difference in peoples’ lives,” said Sarah Miller.

The goal is to collect 1,500 shoes in 15 days.

Organizers say they have seen a 32 percent drop in bullying at a school that takes the challenge.
