One person shot in East Salinas Monday night

One person was shot in East Salinas Monday night and was sent to a hospital, according to the Salinas Police Department.

Salinas Police said it happened on the 1100 block of Del Monte Avenue just after 7 p.m.

Police said a 20-year-old man was shot somewhere on his lower body. They believe the victim was working on a car in the garage of an apartment complex when the suspect walked up and shot at him.

“Suspect fired multiple rounds at him and then fled, we don’t know which direction at this point,” said Sgt. Dana Cornelison with the Salinas Police Department.

Police said they don’t have any suspect information and they are not sure if the shooting is gang related.
