CHP investigating two fatal accidents in San Benito County over the weekend
CHP officers are investigating two fatal accidents that happened in San Benito County over the weekend.
The first accident happened at 6:20pm Saturday evening on Shore Road near Lovers Lane in Hollister.
A 32 yr old from Hollister was driving a pick-up truck and hit a woman walking in the roadway wearing dark clothing and had a blanket around her officers say.
CHP dispatch had gotten calls about her walking in road just minutes prior to the accident and were actually headed to the scene to get her out of the road.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved in the victim’s action, but CHP says the driver was negative for drugs or alcohol and stayed on scene and was cooperative.
The second accident was discovered Just before 7am Sunday morning when a fieldworker found a body and a motorcycle in a ditch near San Juan Highway in San Juan Bautista. near Chittenden Rd. in San Juan Bautista
CHP investigators say they believe the accident actually happened at 12:30am Sunday morning because a neighbor heard a motorcycle about that time.
CHP says the motorcycle was going north on San Juan Highway and failed to negotiate the turn near Chittenden Road, hit a guardrail, and was ejected.
Officers say the motorcycle went over the guard rail into a ditch.
Officers have identified the victim as 41-year-old Sean Messina from Morgan Hill.
CHP is asking for any sort of witness information or anything at all related to the either accident.
