UC Santa Cruz Police find person of interest in car break-ins

UC Santa Cruz Police say after a string of car break-ins on campus right after Christmas, the department released a Community Crime Bulletin and since then, two more auto burglaries have been reported.

Two of the break-ins happened at Kresge College, one at Cowell College, and at the family student housing area.

Police say thieves took things like money, clothing and electronics.

Now investigators say they have a surveillance image of a person of interest who used a stolen debit card at a local market.

He is described as a white male adult in his 30s, who is heavy set with a mustache.

Anyone who may be able to identify the person of interest or is a witness to these burglaries or has information regarding these crimes is encouraged to call the UC Santa Cruz Police Department at 831-459-2231, ext. 1.
