Drive-by shooting in Seaside

A suspect in a drive-by shooting led law enforcement agencies in a small chase that ended in Monterey, according to the Seaside Police Department.

Police said Calvin Dowdle drove by a home on the 1000 block of Palm Avenue in Seaside and began shooting at another man outside the home. Police said the victim then ran inside the home while Dowdle continued shooting.

Police said Dowdle fled the scene and the victim was not hurt.

Seaside Police officers alerted surrounding law enforcement agencies with the description of the suspect vehicle.

Sand City Police officers spotted the vehicle leaving the area on Highway 1 and Canyon Del Rey Boulevard.

Officers said Dowdle led officers on a chase along Highway 1 into the city of Monterey.

Seaside Police, Sand City Police Department and Monterey County Sheriff’s assisted in the pursuit.

Police said a precision immobilization technique was conducted on the suspect vehicle and shortly after Dowdle surrendered.

Three loaded handguns and a loaded shotgun were located in the vehicle along with methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine, according to police.

Seaside Police said the shooting appeared to be drug-related.

Dowdle faces attempted murder charges and was booked into the Monterey County Jail.
