Spare the Air Alert lifted

The Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District is lifting the Spare the Air Alert for San Lorenzo Valley as of 4:00pm, Thursday, January 8 because of improved conditions.

The Air Pollution Control District asks people to continue to make choices for cleaner air. They recommend burning only dry, seasoned wood. The Air Pollution Control District also asks that fires are not left to smolder.

The Air Pollution Control District recommends that the public check the air quality forecast regularly at http://air.mbuapcd.org/ from November 1 through February 28, which is the Spare the Air season.

The Monterey Bay UnifiedAir Pollution Control District always discourages wood burning when the air quality is classified as being in the orange range on the monitoring scale on their website.
