Police: “Partial body” found in 1995 is ID’D 20-years later

The remains of a body found floating on Asilomar State Beach in 1995, has finally been identified, according to authorities.

Cengiz Nuray was 17-years-old at the time he was reported missing from Santa Barbara according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Department.

According to charleyproject.org website, Nuray was hanging out with his friends at Greyhound Rock Beach in Santa Cruz on Apr. 27 1995. Nuray then told his friends he was going for a walk. That was the last time he was seen.

The Pacific Grove Police Department said the “partial body” belongs to a 17-year-old male who was reported missing from Santa Barbara in 1995, the same year he was found dead in Pacific Grove.

The department said they identified the remains on Dec. 30, 2014 after resubmitting DNA and this time there was a match.

The cause of death is still unknown.
