Seaside homeowner comes face-to-face with armed burglars
The homeowner is thankful that neither he nor his family are hurt.
The homeowner said, “This is a really quiet area, so that’s why I was surprised.” The homeowner’s identity is being protected because he is a federal investigator.
The signs stating there were dogs on the premises and an ADT security system did not deter the suspects.
The homeowner was tipped off to the burglars because of a low security device — a chihuahua named Mickey. However, neither Mickey nor the other dog, Max, could have protected the homeowner from what happened next.
When the homeowner caught the burglars in his garage, they bolted… one of them turning around and firing off a gun shot that went through the garage wall and ended up in the kitchen.
Then, they took off with his 2007 Black Honda Ridgeline truck with a camper shell, a mountain bike and power tools.
Seaside Police are investigating and are looking for these men, who surveillance captured prior to the break-in at a convenience store.
In the meantime, the homeowner says he is not taking anymore chances with his family’s safety. “My wife and I have been thinking of putting a camera system up so we are definitely going to do that.”
The mountain bike was found a few blocks down. The truck and power tools are still missing.
