Save Our Water launches new website

In light of the ongoing drought in California, Save Our Water launched a new website at www.SaveOurWater.org.

The new website is designed to aid Californians in their water conservation efforts by helping them reduce daily water usage, according to the Association of California Water Agencies.

Save Our Water is a statewide conservation effort entailing a partnership between the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) and the California Department of Water Resources (DWR).

According to Save Our Water, Californians have made great progress in mitigating the effects of one of the worst droughts in decades by conserving water usage.

The California State Water Resources Control Board said that in November of 2014, statewide residential water conservation grew to 9.8 percent from the previous year. More than 105 billion gallons of water were saved in comparison to the previous year’s usage, according to a California State Water Resources Control Board Report. According to the board, this is enough water to supply 1.37 million California residents for a whole year.

Mark Cowin, Director of the California Department of Water Resources, said, “The new Save Our Water website will help more Californians make water conservation a daily habit, not just an extraordinary measure we take in drought. Wise use of water helps the whole state, rain or shine.”

Save Our Water also has a Facebook page, and accounts on Twitter and Instagram.
