Hwy. 101 construction projects in Monterey County
A couple of construction projects along U.S. Highway 101 are currently underway and will continue until springtime.
Caltrans officials have announced that a 3.5 mile project starting just north of Hudson Road and continuing to just north of the Salinas River Bridge near Soledad has begun.
Officials say the project entails the construction of a high tension cable median barrier and rumble strips in this area.
Caltrans says roadwork will take place during both the daytime and nighttime hours with alternating ramp closures. Electronic message boards will also be added to the area informing motorists to not expect delays beyond 20 minutes.
This project is meant to give motorists and cyclists a safer route. Caltrans aims to have this project done by March.
In Greenfield, there will be overnight pavement improvements along U.S. Highway 101. The project commenced on December 1st and is upgrading six miles of roadway from Lagormarsino to south of Hudson Road, according to Caltrans officials.
Officials say the right lane will be closed when necessary. There will also be message boards notifying drivers of delays not surpassing 20 minutes.
According to Caltrans, the overnight work hours for the Northbound lanes are from 7:00pm to 6:00am Monday through Thursday (Friday morning). The work hours for the Southbound lanes are from 7:00pm to 1:00pm Monday through Thursday (Friday afternoon).
According to officials, the project is meant to create a smother road for motorists and cyclists and should be done by the end of April.
