Suspected car thief leads Sheriff’s deputies on chase, had baby in the car
An early morning police chase ended in Marina with one man in handcuffs. The baby who was inside the car at the time of the chase was not injured.
Monterey County Sheriff deputies told NewsChannel 5 they noticed a car in Prunedale that caused suspicion.
They got the license plate number and learned that is was a stolen vehicle from Monterey.
Deputies say the suspect wouldn’t pull over and a chase with them reaching speeds of up to 80 mph. The stolen car had a woman and a months-old baby inside.
Officers from the Marina Police Department and CHP set up spike strips at Highway 1 and Reservation Road and were able to arrest the driver.
When they detained the suspect, they learned he is well-known to law enforcement.
