Big Sur Marathon: “Last Chance for Locals” to register

Though the Big Sur International Marathon sold out for out-of-county runners, 50 Monterey County residents still have a chance at registering for the race, according to marathon organizers. The marathon will take place on April 26, 2015.

A “Last Chance for Locals” drawing will be held in Carmel at Treadmill, the Peninsula’s Running Company, at 111 Crossroads Blvd. in the Crossroads Carmel from 9:00am to 10:30am, according to marathon organizers. People must be present in order to be eligible to win a slot in the race.

Race organizers say runners who are interested need to bring proof of residency and will submit their names along with their contact information during the specified time frame.

The drawing for the 50 spaces will happen at 11:00am, plus 25 additional names will be drawn for the waiting list.

Treadmill will be hosting a fun run at 8:00am that morning.

According to race officials, the “Last Chance for Locals” drawing only applies to the marathon distance race. Online registration is still open for the 5 kilometer race and the 9 mile race at www.bsim.org. The 21 mile race, the 10.6 mile race and the marathon relay are sold out.
