Capitola Kohl’s robbery suspect in custody

Capitola police report that there was an armed robbery on Sunday at Kohl’s Department Store on 41st Avenue in Capitola.

According to authorities, the suspect is Gerardo Orozoco Torres, who hid $283.93 in store merchandise in his jacket while leaving the store. Police say Kohl’s loss and prevention agents tried to stop Torres who pushed past them. According to the report, the agents followed Torres who then approached each of them while waving a box cutter. He then fled the scene.

The Watsonville Police Department stopped Torres at the intersection of Oakridge and Green Valley Road. He was booked at the Santa Cruz County Jail for armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, according to officials.
