Could monarch butterflies be endangered?

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is launching a year-long status review to determine whether the monarch butterfly should be classified as an endangered species. They aim to figure out if monarch butterflies need protection under the Endangered Species Act.

Monarch butterflies migrate vast distances, often through dangerous areas.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is requesting scientific and commercial data throughout a 60-day public information period until March 2nd.
