Tree falls on family home in Boulder Creek.

Central coast residents are still feeling the effects of recent storms. It’s been a week since a redwood tree came crashing down on on Boulder Creek family’s home but the clean-up continued Saturday.

Rob and Catherine Gieberson are grateful to be alive after the 60-foot tree slammed through their bedroom, burying the couple in debris.

“The next thing I knew I heard my husband screaming out for me. I tried to get up off the bed and I found that I couldn’t because I was pinned down by the tree…As soon as I opened my mouth to start yelling it was just filled with debris and insulation, redwood tree stuff and dirt,” said Catherine Gieberson.

Photos taken from the day it happened show the tree in the house on December 11th. It fell on Catherine Gieberson cracking her ribs.

The couple’s six-year-old son was narrowly missed by the tree as it came through the ceiling.

Saturday the couple came back to the house for a few hours to sort through what little they have left as rain stopped for a bit.

The family is now scrambling to try and find a new place to live as family and friends are trying to step up and offer support.
