Hollister sex offender off the radar contacts police, re-registers

UPDATE 12/5/14: Friday Hollister Police say they made contact with Martin Fernandez Guardado after his picture was aired on NewsChannel 5. Dectectives received several leads on his whereabouts and as they were following up on those leads they got a phone call from Guardado.

Guardado told detectives he was out of state and he has since registered with that state’s local police agency.

Hollister Police conducted compliance checks on local sex registrants Wednesday and two were arrested, but one is still at large.

Officers were able to track down one sex offender that was out of compliance at the San Benito County Homeless Shelter. 44-year-old Troy Lemings was arrested without incident.
38-year-old Isaias Sernas Jr. was arrested at a home in the 1200 block of Monica
Court for also being in violation of his requirement to register his address.
Sernas was staying with relatives on Monica Court after falsely reporting
he lived on the 800 block of Hillcrest Road.

Police were unable to locate 50-year-old Martin Fernandez. He missed his his yearly registration and is suspected of not living in the home on the La Machia Court where he last registered. Detectives are working on an arrest warrant for Guardado.

Sex offenders are required to register within 5 days of their birthdays, within 5 days of moving from one home to another and those who are transient are required to register every 30 days.
