Criminal justice student arrested for drugs and guns

Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Department said detectives arrested a 19-year-old on the Cabrillo College campus as he was taking a criminal justice class.

Wednesday detectives served a search warrant at the home of Guillermo Campos on Green Valley Road in Watsonville. The search warrant came after Campos brandished a gun at a neighbor on November 24th.

During the search, detectives located and seized over a pound of meth, a loaded .357 revolver, a loaded 9mm Semi-Auto handgun and $4,500.

Campos was not home at the time the search warrant was served, but detectives found and arrested Campos at Cabrillo College where he was taking a criminal justice class. Campos was booked into County Jail for possession of methamphetamine with a loaded firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, assault with a firearm, and possession of controlled substance for sale. His bail was set at $50,000.

California law prohibits any person convicted of a felony from becoming a peace officer.
