New UC Santa Cruz science building breaks ground
A groundbreaking ceremony took place Wednesday for the new UC Santa Cruz biology building.
Officials from the university and Wells Fargo Bank took part in a dedication for what will be the Wells Fargo Coastal Science Research Center.
The building will support research and teaching on coastal conservation, ecology, habitat restoration, climate change impacts, and policy.
UCSC purchased approximately 55 acres next to the Long Marine Laboratory in 1999 from Wells Fargo. That includes the parcel where the new building will be constructed.
