MST expands bus service at CSUMB; releases new mobile website
Monterey-Salinas Transit is introducing a major expansion of bus service in and around the California State University at Monterey Bay starting Saturday.
The university is fully funding the expansion.
Line 17 CSUMB – Marina, will now have increased frequency compared to last academic year, operating every 25 minutes throughout the day instead of the previously scheduled every 45 minutes.
In addition, Line 17 will now operate seven-days-a-week during the school year instead of last year’s weekday-only service. The Line 17 route also has been expanded to serve residential areas of Marina along Reindollar Road and California Avenue to provide increased connectivity from the surrounding community to campus.
Line 26 CSUMB-East Campus Express also has an expanded route and schedule, with new service being introduced to Monterey College of Law, where a number of CSUMB classes will be held for the 2014-2015 academic year.
Frequencies on Line 26 will also be improved, with buses now arriving every 30 minutes instead of last year’s 45-minute headways. CSUMB is funding additional service on Line 25 CSUMB-Salinas on Sunday evenings to enable students living in Salinas to study at the University when the library is open late and then return home by bus.
Details of the expansion — which includes the return of Line 47 Hartnell-Alisal Campus — is in the new MST Rider’s Guide. Those can be obtained aboard MST buses, MST customer service centers in Monterey, Salinas and Marina; and more than 100 other locations throughout the county.
MST is also introducing a new mobile website for smartphones to allow customers to easily and quickly access transit maps and schedules, as well as planning their trips using Google Transit throughout MST’s service area in Monterey, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara and San Luis Obispo counties, as well as to connecting bus and train services in the Bay Area and beyond.
