Salinas police release photos of armed robbery suspects

Salinas police released surveillance video photos Monday evening of the two men wanted in connection with a deadly armed robbery Friday at a convenience store that left a woman employee dead.

Several grainy, color images were released from the business showing one suspect approximately 5’6″ wearing dark colored pants, a grey hooded sweatshirt and a black mask covering his face. Suspect #2 is approximately 6′ tall wearing dark colored pants, a white hooded sweatshirt and a black mask covering his face.

Both suspects were last seen running northbound on Willams Road after the attempted robbery and shooting.

Police have identified the woman shot and killed Friday as 55-year-old Sook Mi Oh. Officers found three shooting victims inside the store. One of the three victims was an employee, and the two other victims were friends of the employee who were visiting her at the store.

An investigation revealed that two suspects entered the store with a handgun demanding that the employees give them all the money. When the employee did not open the register quickly enough, one of the suspects shot Oh. The same suspect then shot the second victim, and the employee, before turning his attention back to the first woman and striking her numerous times.

The suspects then attempted to open the register themselves, before taking off.

Police said they are following some leads as investigators are also looking at whether two other armed robberies that happened the same night are connected to the one at Hot Stop.

The second victim, a female friend of the employee, was transported to a bay area hospital where she remains in critical, but stable condition.

The third victim and employee of the store was treated at local hospital and released.

News Channel 5 has been in contact with Oh’s family all weekend. On Monday, they said for the time being the store will remain closed.
