Schedule of local events for National Night Out
More than 16,000 communities in the U.S., Canada and U.S. territories are expected to partake. The event is aimed at preventing crime and promoting community connections. Communities and law enforcement agencies will be hosting events throughout the Central Coast featuring kids’ activities, music, food and more.
Here are the events scheduled in our region. This list will be updated.
Monterey County:
Carmel: The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office will host an event from 6 to 9 p.m. at Highway 1 and Rio Road, Carmel.
Castroville: The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office will host their event from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Castro Plaza, Preston Street at Pomber Street.
Salinas: Closter Park from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. A peace march organized by A Time for Grieving and Healing will leave Cesar Chavez Library at 3:30 p.m. and arrive at the park at 4 p.m. Mayor Joe Gunter and District 2 Councilman Tony Barrera will hold an official welcome at 4 p.m.
Seaside: Seaside police will host their event on the lawn of City Hall, Canyon Del Rey Boulevard at Harcourt Avenue, 4 to 9 p.m.
Soledad: Soledad YMCA, 560 Walker St., 4:30 to 8 p.m.
Santa Cruz County:
Aptos: Resurrection Church, Soquel Drive, 5 to 8 p.m.
Ben Lomond: Ben Lomond Park, 5 to 8 p.m.
Boulder Creek: Boulder Creek Business Association, Forrest Way and Highway 9, 5 to 8 p.m.
Capitola: Jade Street Park, 5- 7 p.m.
Summit/Loma Prieta: Summit-Loma Prieta Gazebo, 23845 Summit Road, 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Live Oak: Snug Harbor Mobile Home Park, 740 30th Ave., 6 to 8 p.m.
Live Oak: end of Gary Drive, 5 to 8 p.m.
Pleasure Point: 13th Avenue beach, 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Santa Cruz: Santa Cruz Gardens Park, 5 to 8 p.m.
South County: South County Sheriff’s Center, Green Valley Road, 5 to 8 p.m.
Watsonville: The city expects 20 neighborhoods throughout the city to host this event. Festivities will include block parties, BBQ’s, DJ’s, activities for children and dance contests.
Santa Clara County:
Gilroy: The Gilroy Youth Task Force and the Gilroy Police Department will hold their NNO event from 6 to 9 p.m. at Las Animas Park, 400 Mantelli Drive.
Morgan Hill: Free child fingerprinting, an ice cream social, food trucks and more will be taking place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the downtown Morgan Hill promenade on Third Street.
San Benito County:
Hollister: Hollister police and the San Benito County Sheriff’s department will host an event in the downtown Business District on San Benito Street.
