Two shot in King City over the weekend in separate incidents

Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of shots heard Sunday evening and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds.

Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Pine Canyon and Merritt Street just before 7 p.m. They found a 25-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and one to his foot. He was taken to Mee Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Deputies ask anyone with information on this incident to contact Deputy Sclimenti or Sgt. Palazzolo at 385-8312 or call the tipline at 888-833-4847.

Meanwhile, King City Police also are investigating a shooting that occurred within city limits Saturday night.

Police officers were dispatched to reports of a shooting on the 200 block of Oxford Avenue just after 9 p.m. Saturday. Upon arrival, they were informed there was one victim of a gunshot wound who had been taken to Mee Memorial Hospital by family members.

Police say the 26-year-old victim does not not live at the residence where the shooting occurred. He was having dinner with friends and family when a dark-colored vehicle was seen driving in front of the house. The car slowed down, and a passenger began shooting at the family. The car then continued down Oxford Avenue.

The victim was shot once in the back. He was evaluated at Mee Memorial and then transported to a Bay Area hospital. He’s expected to survive.

The King City Police Department is actively pursuing this investigation. Anyone with further information in regards to this case is encouraged to call the King City Police Department at 386-5980 or the WeTip line at 1-800-78-CRIME.
