Marina man admits to threatening Monterey College of Law faculty, students

A Marina man has pleaded guilty to threatening and harassing students and staff at Monterey College of Law.

Kevin Saunders, 44, pleaded guilty to six counts of violating a civil restraining order and one count of sending annoying or threatening electronic communications.

Saunders was expelled from the college in September 2013. The president and dean of the school sought a restraining order against him because of his actions following the expulsion. The Monterey County Superior Court issued a restraining order in October prohibiting Saunders from harassing any Monterey College of Law faculty, staff, or students.

During the months of October, November, and December of 2013, Saunders sent several threatening and derogatory electronics communications to various faculty and students at the school.

He pled guilty to one count of violating a restraining order for each person he harassed. He was sentenced to three years of probation and 60 days in county jail. He is prohibited from contacting the victims and the civil restraining order remains in effect.
