San Benito Co. offers prescription discount program that benefits library

San Benito County departments are launching a program that will help residents save money on prescription drugs and help fund local libraries.

The San Benito County Free Library and the San Benito Integrated Waste Department Management — through it’s contract refuse and recycling collector, Recology — are partnering to promote the Coast2Coast Rx program.

The Coast2Coast Rx program is a prescription discount program that has been available to all San Benito County residents since July 2010. The Coast2Coast Rx card allows all county residents — regardless of income, age, or health status — to participate in the program and save on the cost of their medications.

Even pet medications can be covered.

The prescription card can be used at all pharmacy chains and most independent pharmacies in San Benito County and includes over 60,000 drugs.

As an additional benefit, $1.25 will be donated to the county library system for each card.

Residents can learn more about the program and print a free card by visiting www.coast2coastrx.com. Cards will also be available at The San Benito Free Library, in addition to the mail outs to be distributed next week.
