Seaside police identify body found at Laguna Grande Park

Seaside police have identified the body found buried in a shallow grave at Laguna Grande Park last week as that of Michael Paul Verga.

The 55-year-old Seaside resident’s body was found on July 25. His remains were identified Monday after an autopsy was performed.

Further forensic medical examinations are pending in order to determine the cause of death.

Verga was known to frequent the homeless encampment in the area where his body was found and was known to police. His death is being treated as suspicious until a cause of death has been determined.
