Low-cost vaccine clinic held at SVMH

Families getting ready to send their kids back to school take advantage of a low-cost immunization clinic.

On Friday, kids and adults got the TDAP shot at the Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System Farmers Market.

The vaccine protects against three potentially deadly diseases, including whooping cough.

It cost $70 a shot and $130 for the meningococcal meningitis shot.

The TDAP shot is required for kids entering seventh grade. The meningitis shot is required for freshmen entering college.

SVMH partnered with Central Coast Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice to put on the event.
