Stockton Police: Bank robbery suspects intended to kill
Police in California say the suspects who robbed a bank and took three people hostage also intended to kill people.
Stockton Police Chief Eric Jones said at a news conference on Thursday he arrived at that conclusion based on the “havoc” the men created.
Police say the suspects took the three women hostage on Wednesday afternoon as they made their getaway and waged a ferocious, high-speed gunbattle with officers.
The getaway vehicle was eventually disabled, and police and the suspects got into a shootout.
One of the hostages and two suspects died. Jones said the surviving suspect, 19-year-old Jaime Ramos, appears to have used one of the hostages as a shield.
