Motorcyclist killed after crashing into semi on Highway 101
A motorcyclist was killed Sunday night after colliding with a tractor-trailer in King City, California Highway Patrol officers said.
The motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Highway 101 in the first lane at an undetermined speed around 9:30 p.m. As he approached the intersection at Central Avenue, the back end of the tractor-trailer was still in the first lane in an eastbound direction.
The motorcyclist apparently did not see the trailer and struck the left rear of the vehicle. The motorcycle overturned, eventually coming to rest in the roadway. Life-saving efforts were performed on-scene and the motorcyclist was then taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
The truck driver was not injured.
CHP has not released the name of the victim, a 54-year-old San Ardo man.
