Police: Prostitute linked to 2nd death in Georgia

Police in Georgia say they are taking a second look at the 2013 heroin overdose death of a man connected to the woman charged in the overdose death of a Google executive.

Capt. Shawn McCarty with the Milton, Georgia, police department says Alix Tichelman called 911 to report that Dean Riopelle had overdosed on heroin in September.

McCarty says Tichelman told investigators that Riopelle had been drinking and using heroin throughout the day.

McCarty says a medical examiner concluded Riopelle did in fact die of an overdose. However, he says investigators want to take a second look to make sure they did not miss anything.

Tichelman is charged with manslaughter in the November death of Google executive Forrest Hayes.

Hayes was found dead on his yacht in Santa Cruz. On July 4, Santa Cruz police arrested Tichelman in connection with the death. She appeared in Santa Cruz County Superior Court Wednesday but did not enter a plea. She is due back in court next week for further arraignment.

Santa Cruz Deputy Police Chief Steve Clark said Thursday that 26-year-old Alix Tichelman looked up possible defense strategies. Clark said Hayes held his chest near his heart as he suffered medical complications.
