Health warning lifted at Lovers Point
UPDATED July 9, 2014:
Monterey County health officials on Wednesday lifted a beach advisory posted at at Lovers Point last month.
The beach was posted with an advisory due to high levels of indicator bacteria found in samples taken in early June.
Higher levels of bacteria have been associated with the increased potential risk of illness. There are various sources of bacteria such as marine life (i.e. seals, otters, and birds) and other animals; rainfall runoff; storm drains; and human activity.
Health officials recommend you not swim in or have contact with storm drain water. For more information on Monterey Peninsula Beaches please call the hotline at (800) 347-6363 or visit the website.
