Dead humpback whale washes ashore California beach

A 35-foot-long humpback whale has washed up dead on a Central California beach, and there are no plans to move it.

The San Luis Obispo Tribune reported Thursday that the whale was found on a state beach in Los Osos and has been there for almost a week, according to the Associated Press.

Park managers say they do not plan to remove the whale from the beach because it will eventually get washed back into the ocean.

Scientists say the cause of death has not been determined and that the whale is too decomposed to perform an autopsy.

Officials recommend that visitors keep their distance from the whale for health concerns.
