All fireworks banned in Monterey County unincorporated areas

Families across the nation celebrate the Fourth of July in many ways, including with fireworks. But agencies want to remind people in Monterey County that all fireworks are banned in unincorporated areas.

These areas include:

Pajaro
Prunedale
Las Lomas
Castroville
Aromas
Bolsa Knolls
Corral de Tierra
Toro Park
Chualar
Big Sur
Pebble Beach
Carmel Valley
San Lucas
San Ardo
Arroyo Seco
Lake San Antonio
Bradley

Deputies and fire marshals will be patrolling to make sure fireworks are not being used. Possession of illegal and dangerous fireworks can mean a $500-$1000 penalty and one year in jail.
