Man leads deputies on chase, commits suicide in San Jose
Sheriff’s officials in Santa Clara County say a man led deputies on a high-speed chase and rammed an SUV before getting out of his car and committing suicide on a highway on-ramp.
The pursuit began around 6 p.m. Monday after deputies located the man’s Toyota Avalon at a park in San Jose. Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup tells the San Jose Mercury News , the man’s son had told deputies his father left a suicide note.
The man took off and led deputies on a chase on Highway 101 that reached speeds over 100 mph. He slammed into an SUV before coming to a stop on the on-ramp.
Stenderup says the man then got out of the Avalon and shot himself.
