Former Carmel soccer coach sentenced on sex charges
A former Carmel High School soccer coach has been ordered to serve 180 days in Monterey County Jail and spend three years on probation for having sexual activity with a teenage girl.
Edgar Garcia De Paz, then 23, attended dinner with six female soccer players at a Monterey restaurant in February 2012. After dinner, one of the girls, aged 16, went to Garcia De Paz’ car, where the sex act occured.
Garcia De Paz had been a volunteer high school girls’ soccer coach at the time. The 26-year-old Seaside resident pleaded no contest in March to one felony charge of engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
