Breathe California presents annual Clean Air Awards in Monterey
Breathe California honored three Monterey County entities last week for their efforts in developing creative and effective strategies to address climate change.
The 4th annual Clean Air Awards were presented in Monterey to Republic Services of Salinas and the Monterey Regional Waste Management District and The Offset Project.
Republic Services of Salinas was honored for the company’s conversion of 30 waste/recycle collection truck vehicles from diesel fuel to compressed natural gas. The Monterey Regional Waste Management District was honored for developing the first dry fermentation anaerobic compost system for food scraps in the state.
The Offset Project was honored for their efforts in influencing sustainability and climate protection practices through their programs, including their Zero Waste special events, consulting services, workshops and the Monterey Bay Carbon Fund.
Breathe California is an organization dedicated to fighting lung disease, advocating for clean air and advancing public health.
