Couple arrested in Watsonville for alleged drug violations

Two Watsonville residents were arrested on multiple drug and possession charges after several search warrants were served on their property. 35-year-old Oscar Macias and 32-year-old Juanita Galarza were both arrested Thursday in Watsonville.

The Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team’s Narcotic Task Force was investigating Macias on information he was involved in heroin trafficking. Agents found Macias driving on Amesti Road in southern Santa Cruz County Thursday and reportedly found nine bindles of heroin in his car. Agents then served a warrant on Macias’ home, where Galarza and their 3-year-old child were found.

Agents also found another 2 ounces of heroin, 6 ounces of marijuana and evidence of packaging the drugs for sale. Some of the heroin was even found to be within easy reach of the 3-year-old child in the house.

Macias was arrested on multiple charges including possession and transportation of heroin. Agents also arrested Galarza for child endangerment. Both were booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail.
