Long-time evening anchor Marc Cota-Robles announced Tuesday that he has accepted what he calls “a dream opportunity” and will be leaving his position with KION.
“The Central Coast has become like a family to me, so I wanted to share this news with all of you who have supported me these last eight years,” he said. “I’ve accepted a reporter position at KABC in Los Angeles, the number two television market. This career move is bitter sweet for sure as I leave behind a truly special place.
When I came to KION in 2007, I had not met my wife Jasmine and had no idea where my career would take me – from anchoring the weekend newscasts, then the morning show alongside Jasmine and on the evenings for the past four years. I have met an overwhelming amount of generous people who give so much to our communities, and have made many friends along the way.
Jasmine will be joining me in Los Angeles this fall. That said, I know our Central Coast News team is in good hands, with Spencer, Jon, Norm and our entire KION family. I can tell you, some great things are happening on air and behind-the-scenes. In the meantime, I’ll continue to bring you the news on KION at 5 and on the CW at 10 p.m.
Thank you all for your support!
My last day at KION will be two weeks from today, May 27.
