Heat Wave

Lots of sunshine today and temperatures on the rise already. Highs today reached into the mid 70s near the coast to the 80s to mid 90s farther inland. With high pressure building aloft over the Central Coast temperatures overnight will be mild and in the 50s but in the 60s in the hills.

The upper ridge will continue over the Eastern Pacific and Western U.S. The surface high over Northern Nevada and Utah will continue into Wednesday with the strongest offshore winds on Tuesday into Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory which is in effect for the Central Coast Tuesday at 1 pm through Wednesday at 8 pm. Temperatures will reach into the low to mid 90s near the coast to the mid 90s to 105 degrees inland.

The upper ridge will weaken on Thursday and Friday. Temperatures will cool a little at the coast on Thursday but over most of the area on Friday. Then a trough drops into the Pacific Northwest on Friday into Sunday. Onshore winds will bring cooler temperatures and a few clouds.

The Outlook for May 18th to May 26th calls for Near of Above Normal Temperatures and Below Normal Precipitation..which is very little for this time of year.
