AMGEN tour comes through Monterey Wednesday
The city of Monterey will play host to the AMGEN Tour of California when it comes through the area Wednesday.
City officials are reminding residents that the event will mean road closures and service delays temporarily.
Cyclists will gather on Alvarado Street behind the starting line at Bonifacio Place on May 14 for the Stage 4 start.
Festivities will begin at 10 a.m., the ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. and the race begins around 11:45 a.m. The cyclists will proceed east on Franklin Street to El Estero and then Del Monte Avenue. The riders and the 100-vehicle caravan accompanying them will then head on Highway 1 south to Cambria.
